Terror & Grace: April 5 & 6, 2002

American Flatbread – Flatbread Kitchen

Dedication

Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6, 2002

Tonight’s menu and baking are dedicated to

Terror and Grace

In world capitols, old warriors gather to debate

The definition of terror and how it relates

To their cause and values and aspirations.

They describe themselves in glowing terms

While those they oppose as less than worms.

Hate and greed and fear are the stars of their constellations.

But is terror so hard to truly understand?

Any act of violence terrorizes every man.

I turn away from their deceit

I have no investments in their beliefs.

I have come from a conference just today

Where a hundred souls have found a way

To start to imagine the end of hunger.

Oh what a wonder that would be.

And tonight, here, other good souls

Are building homes for humanity.

And in a million other places

Ten billion acts of kindness,

And that is just the count for today

–“They always say please and thank-you,”

I heard a merchant say,

“They’re good kids.”

There is terror and there is grace.

Tonight, American Flatbread is happy to bake in benefit for Habitat for Humanity. Rock on Hope!

                                                            Thanks for coming.

                                                                                    Love,

                                                                                                George
