Tonight’s menu and baking are dedicated to
Yesterday and Today
Thanks to Megan, Paul, Girl George, Dale, Clay, Kim, and Dan—
I could not have done it without you.
As I sit to write this dedication, I pause with a deep fatigue… and it is already 6:30 PM. I am late today, but do not mind, I am simply glad to write at all…
Yesterday was our special moment in the manmade sun we call TV. The Today Show broadcast from Sugarbush, and we were invited to be a part of it. A week and a half of planning and work for three and a half minutes of air time. And when it came, well, it came like a tornado: A frenetic swirl of human energy that bordered on chaos. If there was a rhythm, it was one foreign and unknown to me.
I’m glad for it. It was an honor to be included. But I am glad too, for today’s more familiar patterns and pace. Today I took time I did not have yesterday to do something truly important: I helped my son.
There could hardly be more contrast between yesterday and today, and it is that contrast that gives depth and texture to a life I am grateful to have lived.
Thanks for your many kind words, and thanks for coming tonight.
Love,
George
