September 1, 2002: The Catamount Trail Association

American Flatbread – Flatbread Kitchen

The week of September 1, 2002

Tonight’s menu and baking are dedicated to

The Catamount Trail Association ♥

Here in Waitsfield, this Friday, we are hosting a benefit bake for the Catamount Trail Association. The Catamount trail is a 300 mile cross-country trail that winds its way through the Green Mountains from the Massachusetts border to Canada.

Started in 1984, the construction, maintenance, and protection of the trail have been a labor of love for the members of this non-profit organization; and it is almost done! Hundreds of volunteers donating thousands of hours of work are nearing completion of the trail.

The Catamount Trail represents an important way in which modern Vermont is retaining, enriching, and protecting its unique natural heritage, while at the same time creating healthy and diverse recreational opportunities for Vermonters and our many visitors. American Flatbread is honored to bake in benefit for this wholly worthwhile cause.

In Middlebury, we finished our second week of production baking. For those of us in Waitsfield who have come down to lend a hand, we have been taken by the good cheer and thoughtful work of the new crew. The breads coming out of Middlebury are beautiful and delicious- and it was fun making them with you. Thanks everyone for all your good work.

Thank you for coming tonight. To our Jewish friends, Happy Rosh Hashanah. May you all be written into the coming year’s book of life.

                                                                                    Love,

                                                                                                George
