Summer Solstice

 

Oh, sun,

We welcome you!

 

Hot as you are- with your solar storms

And not-quite-perfect temperatures.

 

We welcome you today,

Stay as long as you like.

 

For we know that today we have the pleasure

Of your company for longer than any

Other day in the year.

 

Today is the summer Solstice.

 

We celebrate light and warmth on Earth.

We celebrate the beginning of Summer.

 

The summer sun will nourish us today

And then begin to wane every day forward

Until midwinter.

We take our nourishment:

We frolic, swim, eat strawberries,

Watch fireflies.
