American Flatbread – Flatbread Kitchen

My good friend, Jonathan Hoffman, is off to Afghanistan this summer. He’ll be working in association with the United Nations. His volunteer work is simply to go and be of help in any way he is able. This Friday, American Flatbread is happy to support his trip with a benefit bake.
This will be Jonathan’s first trip to Afghanistan, but his fourth trip abroad as a relief volunteer into a recent war zone. He has previously made three trips to Kosovo, where he was able to directly assist innocent victims of war, often securing for them the most basic life essentials.
In a very fundamental way, Jonathan and scores of other relief agency workers represent what is right about a world that sometimes seems… all beside itself… confused in how to be, how to share, how to forgive, how to love. Jonathan’s work represents tangible evidence that what is best of the human heart is not torn or scattered by violence, but rather, strengthened to carry on with grace and kindness and tolerance. In these acts, our faith is renewed that love can overcome fear and hate, and that hope, no matter how dark the moment, burns on.
Thank you, Jonathan. Have a safe and productive journey. Your acts of courage and care embolden us all to imagine the peace the world so dearly desires.
